Specialising in:  The Irlen Method
The Irlen Method involves the use of coloured overlays and Irlen Spectral Filters worn as glasses and contact lenses which have been shown to eliminate the effects of visual stress and visual fragmentation. This technology can improve reading fluency, comfort, comprehension, attention and concentration while reducing light sensitivity. This is not a method of reading instruction. It is a colour-based technology that filters out the offensive light waves, so the brain can accurately process visual information. Everyone’s brain is different and the key to success is determining the exact colour needed. Coloured tinted lenses provided by others are not the same as Irlen Spectral Filters provided by the Irlen Method. Only certified Irlen Diagnosticians are trained to determine the specific frequencies to optimise performance from an almost limitless selection of filters. The Irlen Method is a non-invasive, patented technology that uses colored overlays and filters to improve the brain’s ability to process visual information. It is the only method scientifically proven to successfully correct the processing problems associated with Irlen Syndrome. This technology can improve reading fluency, comfort, comprehension, attention, and concentration while reducing light sensitivity. This is not a method of reading instruction. It is a color-based technology that filters out offensive light waves, so the brain can accurately process visual information. We help children and adults suffering from:
  • Reading and learning problems
  • Dyslexia
  • ADD/HD, Autism and Asperger Syndrome
  • Behavioral and emotional problems
  • Headaches, migraines, fatigue and other physical symptoms
  • Light Sensitivity/Photophobia
  • Traumatic brain injury (TBI), whip lash, and concussions
  • Certain medical and visual conditions

I am an Irlen Diagnostician having trained under the guidance of Tina Yates who is the present Director of Irlen East.

Born in 1958 I am the Mother of three sons who are all now adults. Two of the boys have ADHD, dyscalculia, dysgraphia and Irlen Syndrome. The learning difficulties and behaviour improved when the started to wear Irlen Lenses. All three are now in full time employment. The family is growing and I also have a lovely daughter-in-law and two wonderful grandaughters. My husband and I live in Needham Market in the beautiful county of Suffolk.

My husband has suffered depression and having Irlen lenses has helped him, he is now the chairperson of ABC for Reading, which is a charity, supporting people with Irlen Syndrome.

I wear Irlen lenses as I was suffering severe and frequent migraines, I very rarely have a migraine these days and wear my glasses all the time. I work full time for Social Care Services in Suffolk and see Irlen clients at the weekend. It is always a pleasure to see clients and doesn’t feel like ‘work’. Being able to screen for Irlen Syndrome and make a positive difference to someone’s life, health and learning is wonderful. I enjoy being able to see people leave with new hope for the future.
